The house gets sealed up tight so the HVAC air doesn’t get out
Summertime is upon us and I know this not just by the numbers on the thermometer. Just walking outside, I can hear a chorus of HVACs doing their cooling thing for every house in the neighborhood. It isn’t easy to get through summer in this part of the country. It takes some planning, a bit of strategy and management as well. First, let me say that attempting to get through the summer without quality HVAC would be something I would run from. The heat and humidity would simply overwhelm me I’m afraid. Not to mention how much time would be spent attempting to mitigate all the mold & mildew. But just flipping on the HVAC and letting it rip is not exactly a winning formula either. Perhaps if you were someone who can throw money away could do that. But still, that’s just wasteful. It doesn’t take all that much to make sure there is value for the money I spend on my HVAC utilities. The HVAC setting just has to be in line with the level of heat outside. I have our thermostat set so it can rise as the temps outside peak. But, it comes down in the evening so the house is nice and pleasant for sleeping. Additionally, I take a few other steps. The house gets sealed up tight so the HVAC air doesn’t get out. Then, I make sure that direct sunlight is not interfering and raising the temp of the air inside by closing shades and curtains. Like I said, it doesn’t take all that much to be sure the money spent on HVAC is not being wasted.
