I just hate it when I try to do something worthwhile and it ends up biting me in the butt. I stopped the other day to help someone with a disabled car. As I walked up to offer help, I was screamed at and threatened with the police. I thought he was kidding at first but, I quickly figured out it was best to just move along. That just blew my mind. It seems there are a lot more obstacles to simply being a good person than there used to be. However, I find that trying to do what’s right a home can also turn around on you. A recent experience with our HVAC is a great example. We have a furnace as part of our HVAC system and heating method. It has normally gotten annual maintenance and service to maintain reliability. However, the furnace is only a few years away from having to be replaced or so says the HVAC tech whom I trust. It still does the job but is lacking efficiency with each passing year. We ever started a savings account for the replacement HVAC unit. However, that looks like we’ll be writing that check much sooner. The furnace shut down the other day so I tried to fix it by replacing what appeared to be a burned out switch. Well, that was the exact wrong thing to do. The part I used was not factory specified and caused the furnace to start up but then fail catastrophically. The furnace just overheated and cracked. Good thing I had started saving ahead of time.
