My Grandpa is absolutely loving his new smart thermostat

Baby boomer plus smartphone…what could go wrong? Let me make it brief when I tell you that my Grandpa is rather stubborn plus absolutely taxing to teach, especially when it comes to brand new technology.

It took myself and others several years of convincing to get him to finally get a smartphone to automate some of the things in his residence.

The first thing the two of us automated for him was his temperature control unit. My Grandpa was easily living in the past when it came to Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C capabilities. His heating machine plus air conditioning were finally upgraded after years of him insisting that he could “repair the furnace plus air conditioning himself” which, for what it’s worth, was somewhat true however lately he has just been too weak plus too exhausted to handle all of his Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C machine needs plus eventually had to cut down plus call his Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C provider to upgrade his old heating machine plus air conditioning. It was at that moment that I knew I had a pretty good opportunity to make his life easier. I told him all about how smart temperature control units save him currency on his energy bills plus since he had to replace his old temperature control unit with the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C overhaul anyway that he might as well make the decision to get a smart control unit. I was very pleased when he agreed! After I showed him how to use the smart temperature control unit app (thank goodness they make it user friendly) he absolutely adored it. He has the smart temperature control unit set up to keep the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C off as much as possible while he’s out of the condo plus he cares about the fact that he can turn on the furnace or air conditioning pretty much anywhere in the condo (or out of it). I’m absolutely blissful he agreed to go with the switch to a smart temperature control unit. He’s much happier now.

It was a good idea to tell my grandfather about smart thermostats

Baby boomer plus smartphone…what could go wrong? I will just make it brief when I say that our Grandfather is severely stubborn and honestly tough to teach, especially when it comes to newer technology.

It took me years of convincing to get him to finally get a smartphone to automate a bunch of the things in his property.

The first thing we automated for him was his temperature control unit. My Grandfather was totally living in the past when it came to Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C equipment capabilities. His oil furnace and A/C equipment were finally updated after several years of him insisting that he could “fix the oil furnace and A/C equipment himself” which, for what it’s worth, was mostly the truth but lately he has just been too weak and too sleepy to take care of all of his Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C equipment needs and eventually had to break down and get a hold of his Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C provider to update his ancient oil furnace and A/C equipment. It was at that moment that I knew I had a golden opportunity to make his life easier. I informed him all about how smart temperature control units save him money on his yearly energy bills and since he had to update his ancient temperature control component with the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C overhaul anyway that he might as well get a smart temperature control unit. I was fully shocked when he agreed! After I showed him how to use the smart temperature control component app (thank goodness they make it user friendly) he undoubtedly appreciated it. He has the smart temperature control component set up to keep the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C equipment off as much as possible while he’s out of the condo and he enjoys that he can turn on the oil furnace or A/C equipment basically anywhere in the condo (or out of it). I’m honestly ecstatic he decided to agree to make the switch to a smart temperature control unit. He’s quite a bit happier now.

The smart thermostat improved the quality of life for my Grandpa

Baby boomer plus smartphone…what could go wrong? Let me just make it brief when I say that our Grandpa is totally stubborn and legitimately hard to teach, especially when it comes to advanced technology.

  • It took myself and others years of convincing to get him to finally get a smartphone to automate a couple of the things in his dwelling.

The first thing we automated for him was his thermostat. My Grandpa was basically living in the past when it came to Heating, Ventilation and A/C capabilities. His heating appliance and a/c were finally replaced after numerous years of him insisting that he could “fix the furnace and a/c himself” which, for what it’s worth, was basically true but lately he has just been too weak and too exhausted to take care of all of his Heating, Ventilation and A/C needs and eventually had to actually break down and call his Heating, Ventilation and A/C provider to replace his seasoned furnace and a/c appliance. It was at that moment that I came to realize that I had an opening to make his life easier. I told him all about how smart thermostats save him a great deal of money on his energy bills and since he had to replace his seasoned thermostat with the Heating, Ventilation and A/C overhaul anyway that he might as well get a smart thermostat. I was pleasantly surprised when he agreed! After I showed him how to use the smart thermostat app (thank goodness they make it user friendly) he seriously liked it. He has the smart thermostat set up to keep the Heating, Ventilation and A/C appliance off as much as possible while he’s out of the dwelling and he likes that he can turn on the furnace or a/c essentially anywhere in the condo (or out of it). I’m legitimately blissful he agreed to make the switch to a smart thermostat. He’s truly happier now.

I was happy when my Grandma went for the smart thermostat

Baby boomer plus smartphone…what could possibly go wrong? Let me just make it clear when I say that my Grandma is rather stubborn & certainly difficult to teach, especially when it comes to technology. It took myself and others years of convincing to get her to finally get a smartphone to automate a few of the things in her household. The first thing the bunch of us automated for her was her thermostat. My Grandma was living in the past when it came to Heating & A/C capabilities. Her furnace & cooling device were finally replaced after multiple years of her insisting that she could “fix the furnace & cooling system himself” which, for what it’s worth, was mostly true but lately she has just been too weak & too fatigued to take care of all of her Heating & A/C device needs & eventually had to entirely break down & call her Heating & A/C provider to replace her seasoned furnace & cooling device. It was at that moment that I realized I had a good chance to make her life easier. I told her everything about how smart thermostats save her cash on her utility bills & since she had to replace her seasoned thermostat with the Heating & A/C overhaul anyway that she might as well get a smart thermostat. I was entirely amazed when she agreed! After I showed her how to use the smart thermostat app (thank goodness they make it user friendly) she completely liked it. She has the smart thermostat set up to keep the Heating & A/C off as much as possible while she’s out of the household & she prefers that she is able to turn on the furnace or cooling device wherever she happens to be in the house (or out of it). I’m certainly cheerful she agreed to make the change to a smart thermostat. She’s so much happier now.

Convinced Grandpa to get a smart thermostat

Baby boomer plus smartphone…what could go wrong? Let me just make it brief when I say that my grandfather is rather stubborn and very difficult to teach, especially when it comes to technology.

It took me years of convincing to get him to finally get a smartphone to automate some of the things in his home.

The first thing we automated for him was his thermostat. My grandpa was living in the past when it came to HVAC capabilities. His heater and air conditioner were finally replaced after several years of him insisting that he could “fix the heater and air conditioner himself” which, for what it’s worth, was mostly true but lately he has just been too weak and too tired to take care of all of his HVAC needs and eventually had to break down and call his HVAC provider to replace his old heater and air conditioner. It was at that moment that I knew I had an opening to make his life easier. I told him all about how smart thermostats save him money on his monthly energy bills and since he had to replace his old thermostat with the HVAC overhaul anyway that he might as well get a smart thermostat. I was shocked when he agreed! After I showed him how to use the smart thermostat app (thank goodness they make it user friendly) he actually really liked it. He has the smart thermostat set up to keep the HVAC off as much as possible while he’s out of the house and he loves that he can turn on the heater or air conditioner anywhere in the house (or out of it). I’m very glad he agreed to make the switch to a smart thermostat. He’s much happier now.

Vape watch makes it easier to sneak a smoke

My girlfriend has been all over me to quit smoking.

I realize that I should quit because it is bad for my health.

I have to say though, I really do enjoy smoking. There are certain situations where having a cigarette really calms me down. For my girlfriend, I have significantly reduced how much I smoke now. The issue is that she wants me to quit cold turkey. I don’t have those kinds of skills and I don’t want to at this point. So it might be crappy of me, but I did find a way to sneak my smoking in. I bought myself a vape watch and a few disposable pods. Each pod is filled with nicotine and lasts me a long time. The nicotine pod is concealed in the watch. In order to smoke, I have two options. I can pop the watch face off and then smoke it like a little square of heaven. Or I can simply turn my wrist and take a hit from the side of my watch. I prefer the latter since it is quicker and more convenient. What I will do is go for a walk, bike ride or even sit in my office wearing my watch. If I need a hit, I will take a puff. There is no smell in the air or even on my clothes. There is no evidence either. I don’t have to buy a carton of cigarettes or have leftover butts laying around. My girlfriend is signfinctatly less on my case now. I don’t smoke as much, but I am not totally smoke free like she thinks.

Vape watch is really nice for fishing

I love fishing and smoking at the same time. Sadly, those two activities are not exactly conducive with each other, at least for a long time they weren’t. I started out lighting up a cigarette when I would fish. The problem was the constant hand movement and being in water was a pain. I would drop my cigarette or get it wet a lot. There went my relaxing smoke while fishing. I then tried vaping since water is not an issue for that. Pulling out the vape got to be an issue. I would get my pants wet or shirt wet, depending on where I kept my vape equipment. I then heard that people are doing vape watches now. I looked online and I found one for a really reasonable cost. I did not have high expectations. I figured that it would be more work than it was worth. Nope, the vape watch is so easy and convenient. I don’t have to worry about my hands being wet. The vape watch sits on my wrist and I can take a hit right from the actual watch. Nowhere on my body gets wet when I do this. My vape equipment doesn’t get dirty since only my mouth touches it. Anytime I want to smoke, the vape is right there for easy access. It can hold up to one pod and that is good enough for the whole time I fish. I also like that it is multi-functional. I can see the time, date and smoke when I need to. The watch literally does everything for me.

No more big bags and the vape sits on my wrist

For years I used to carry around a giant bag wherever I went.

It was such a pain in the butt because people always wanted to put their stuff into it.

My husband would drop his phone, wallet and keys inside of it. Everybody at the party wanted to put their stuff in my bag too. I then would have to carry my 20 pound bag to every bar and restaurant we went to. I felt a bit like a pack mule and no one appreciated it. I then decided that I would rather give up all my stuff to not carry anyone else’s. I downgraded to a small wristlet. It only fits my credit card, phone and birth control. My car key I actually wear around my neck now for easy access. My wristlet can fit in my back pocket if I really need to. The best part is that no one can stuff a thing in my little purse. For a while I was bummed to lose the ability to vape. I loved taking out my vape at a party or on the walk to a new bar. Thankfully I did find that there is new vape equipment out there. The one I like the best is the vape watch. I put in my favorite fruit pod in the watch and I am good all night. I can just turn my wrist and take a hit on the side of it. It is really that simple. Most people don’t even realize I am vaping too. That is really a nice part of it as well. I don’t have to share.

Sneaking my vape watch into concerts

Concerts are getting more and more strict about what they let into venues.

I will admit, I get a sick sort of enjoyment sneaking contraband items into a concert.

Most venues don’t allow outside food. What I do is I bring a giant tampon box and I stuff candy inside. Most of the people checking bags are men. What guy wants to open up a tampon box? I have never had anyone even comment on it. They just think I am really having a bad time of the month. Instead the box is stuff filled with Reeses, Skittles and all other goodies. I typically can sneak a bottle of water in by using the sleeve of my coat. I just strategically hold my coat so it is not obvious. The best is sneaking my vape inside the concert venue. More and more places are banning vapes since they can be filled with CBD oil rather than tobacco. My state is still a big no on the legalization of marijuana. It is so easy getting my vape in though. I bought a vape watch with a flavored pod inside of it. The disposable pod is set right inside of the watch. I just need to puff into the side of it. Looking at it though, it looks like a normal watch. No one has ever flagged me for having the watch on. I then can discreetly vape the entire concert and no one knows where it is coming from. I can do mint flavored, a nicotine pod or if I am feeling feisty, a little CBD oil in it.

Vape watch is best for riding my bike

Some people ride bikes for a workout, for me it is all relaxation.

Riding a bike is like meditating or getting a massage. There is a super long bike path that stretches from the city to my parents’ country home. About once a week I will go on a long bike ride to see my parents. I get up super early, fill a camel-pak and have music blasting. It is the best part of my week. I get to see the sights, feel the sunshine on my face and do something healthy. For a long time I wanted to vape while riding my bike, but felt it wasn’t possible. I got a vape on a lanyard around my neck and it still wasn’t convenient. I had trouble digging out the vape, angling it to my mouth and taking a puff. It made it too stressful and ruined my zen like mood. I then recently saw online that there is a wide variety of vape products. One of the products that stuck out to me was the vape watch. I knew right away that my biking experience was about to be so much better. The vape watch looks like a normal watch and functions like one. I can see the time, direction I am going and even have the temperature put on it. But, the watch also can be operated as a vape device. I just need to turn my wrist and take a puff on the side of the watch. I now only wear my vape watch and I always wear it for my bike rides. It has made my biking so much more relaxing now.
